How it Works

Visionary Data Reduction Technology (DRT)

The first time that a target machine is backed up, the backup solution transmits the entire data set in a compressed and encrypted format from the client to the central system over a TCP/IP connection. In cases where the data set is immense, we bring a "Vault" to the customer's site and perform the initial backup onsite. In any case, AES encryption; up to 256 is applied to the backup data.

The Backup process eliminates redundant files while backing up only the changed blocks of file data. This means that if 4K of a 100K file has changed since the last backup, the backup solution only transmits the 4K changed block, whereas traditional enterprise applications would transmit the entire file. The savings in bandwidth of "Delta Blocking" is what makes Remote Block Storage feasible today.
